Can I consume tobacco or tobacco products or smoke after the hair transplant?
It is better to avoid the consumption or use of tobacco or tobacco products such as cigarettes, cigars, e-cigarettes (electronic cigarettes), shisha, hookah (water pipe), etc. It is advisable to not smoke at all directly after the hair transplant operation as smoking deprives the body of much needed oxygen. Therefore if you decide to smoke after the operation you will most likely not have optimal results after the medical procedure. You must remember that nicotine causes excessive bleeding so you are not advised to smoke or consume any product that has nicotine in it. Lastly, when you smoke you consume toxic chemicals that might negatively affect the hair follicles or graft. If you cannot quit smoking before the operation we advise that you greatly limit the amount of smoking that you do just before the operation.
